An Irish man made an elaborate ad starring himself in the hopes of getting a job in marketing

He “might” have sold his car to fund this video.

AN IRISH GUY is getting heaps of attention on Reddit, after a video he made (in which he advertises himself) went viral.

At present, the video has about 34,500 upvotes and it has been watched 300,000 times on Youtube.

The video opens with Scott, on a cliff, thinking about his lack of direction.

“What if I created my own ad campaign, to prove myself to the best marketing companies, and became ‘self-directed’?”

As part of his hypothetical vision, he hires an actor, to play himself.

It gets more and more elaborate, with the actor who plays Scott ploughing a field while topless, before it cuts back to Scott in his office noting that he’s not that desperate. The ad links to Scott’s website, where he tells his story and explains that his dream is to work as a copywriter in an ad agency, but he just needs some direction.

In autumn 2017, I realised it was going to be tougher to find work, specifically in the area I wanted… While I was looking for work, I set up [a blog and forum] to try generate temporary income. At some point I realised, I need to really up my game.
The self-directed website explores the sort of campaign I could have done, if I had sold my unglamorous Peugeot 206 to fund a campaign for myself.

Well, that’s quite a productive way to occupy yourself while waiting for work.
